Outside

Here are some photos of the outside of the house starting at Maplecroft Lane and going up the driveway and around the house. There may be different angles shown for the same location in the various yards.

1 / 12
Maplecroft Ln
This is Maplecroft Lane in front of the house, note the light post on the left side of the left driveway.
There are two driveways up to the house forming and "island" in front of the house.
The electric lines from the pole to the house are buried under the driveway as is the telephone line.

Island Garden
The sign was done to help people find us since some vehicle GPS
system do not know where number 45 Maplecroft Ln is located.
3 / 12
Island Garden
This is the Garden at the bottom of the island.
There is a Crab Apple Tree, Forsythia Bushes, Clamatis, Lillys and Peonies
4 / 12
Island Garden
This is the other light post for the driveway. It also has a light shining into the Island.
You can just make out two swings and the rope swing, the kids love this place.
That is a Clamatis growing up the light post, and the other plants are Bachelor Buttons.

Door Yard
This is the outside entry to the workshop.
In reality this is the most used outside door in the house.
Which is why we enjoy a nice flower garden around it.

Back Yard and Tower Yard

These photos will move from the door yard to the back yard. Here in Maine folks use the term "door yard" to describe the area outside the entrance to the house. Since we use the Garage and Work Shop entrances the most we call the area between the house and the detached garage the door yard.

Raised Beds
We grow most of our vegetables in raised beds. The two rows of electric fence are to keep the deer at bay.
2 / 14
Raised Beds
This is a shot of the raised beds from the Guest Room Deck.
This also shows the 10 Pallets of fire wood ready for winter.
3 / 14
Upper Yard
The upper yard is where the fork lift lives, we call her Lucy.
The rised platform was put up for the Grandkids to use as a fort. It is a nice place to grow peas and pole beans.
4 / 14
Raised Beds
A shot of the Tower Yard from the Door Yard looking under the Guest room Stairs.
We call the upper yard the Tower Yard because it was created in order to put up the tower. More on the Tower later.
5 / 14
Propane Tank
The propane tank is used for the Kitchen stove burners and to run the generator.
We figured this tank would keep us running for seven days or more depending on how much load, after it does not have to run all night.
6 / 14
Propane Tank
The propane tank from the other side.
7 / 14
Raised Beds
These raised beds were used for Onions and Potatoes.
The smaller beds are Onions and Purple Potatoes, the larger bed is Fingerling Potatoes.
If you look at the left side in back there is another electric fence around the Hugel with the lettace and spinich.
8 / 14
Veggies
These are the other gardens in the Tower Yard, mostly squash, pumpkins and cucumbers.
The archway at the top of the stairs between the backyard and tower yard is for Thumburgia and morning glories.

Back Yard
The Backyard from the end of the Tower Yard.

The "Picnic Table" top is the same Granite as the kitchen counters.

Front Yard

This section will go through the Blueberry Hill and Front Yard.

Blueberry Hill
This is the Blueberry Hill from ground level. Those are sun flowers in the front
The raised beds here have tomatoes and peppers.
There are 24 Blueberry bushes which so far have provided us with a couple of quarts of good berries every year.

Front Yard
These are called Mounds of Snow and offer another interesting sight.
11 / 12
Front Yard
The bird feeder is actually in the island, but this is a view of the front yard with the bird feeder in the fore ground.
The flowers under the birdfeeder are "volunteer" sun flowers from seeds the birds left behind.

Island
This brings us all the way around to the right driveway leaving the house.
This show the middle of the Island with the swings.

The Tower

With the coming of Digital TV we were going to lose NBC and ABC so we built this 80' tower in the back yard for the TV antenna.  Now we get all the Networks in Digital. When we built the tank room it put the House too close to the propane tank, so we cut into the bank up to the tower yard and moved the tank.  Notice the anti climb device on the tower to keep unauthorized people from climbing up.
